The Brief
Pebble Beach develops and supplies leading edge broadcast automation and media management solutions. Recommended by one of its technology partners, we were briefed to design the user interface for its new Marina system. A key driver was to provide a major differentiator from the widespread blue/grey look, for an enhanced user experience. We had to work within very tight technical parameters to allow for many diverse customer environments.
The Solution
The client's use of Qt style sheets enabled us to style the skins and widgets safe in the knowledge that they would be able to build everything in this framework. We designed and produced over 200 icons as SVG files – which scale with no loss of quality – to accommodate different broadcasters’ monitors. Many featured up to eight different states, eg. active on, active off, normal on, normal off, disabled on, disabled off, selected on, selected off.
The Result
Pebble Beach now offers a unique graphical interface, ideal in low ambient light conditions, which enhances the user experience and aids increased productivity. We also produced the imagery for use on the client’s website and marketing collateral.
